ninjaHELL! Presents: Telezonia
Back in the late 70s, the now Bell Communications was in trouble. If they couldn't improve their public image, they wouldn't last much longer. Their solution? The weird and laughably bad “Telezonia” - an musical educational special designed to teach children how to use a telephone. Designed to be as politically correct and racially tolerant as humanly possible, its full of accidental racism and sexism, plot-holes, possible pedophiles and children stupid enough to willing follow badly dressed strangers into magically grown telephones. Needless to say, Bell Communications was later broken up by region. And this special is one of the memorials to their legacy.

Here's what is going to be in the program at Ikkicon 4:

“A Very Merry ninjaHELL!”
Kubu-kun The Sound Ninja and Tsuba-kun The Bullseye Ninja, those crazy ninjas from The Village Hidden In Plain Sight, are back! And this time, not even the holidays are safe – its a ninjaHELL! Holiday Special! But its not just the wintertime holidays, every holiday is fair game. From Halloween to Easter, from Christmas to Yom Kipur; if there's a weird, bad special made of it, they'll make it pay. With holiday themed prizes, odd costume changes, an appearance by Ninja Santa (for everyone in line before the show), and reminders that your childhood was not as bright or cheery as you remember, this ninjaHELL! will be one to remember.
Wonder what ninjaHELL! is? Its a clip show of the weirdest and baddest of educational specials, war time and corporate propaganda, movies, and television. Accompanying these is the funny commentary provided by Kubu-kun and Tsuba-kun, two ninjas from The Village Hidden In Plain Sight. Still confused? Horror Documentaries

I went and saw the film "Paranormal Activity" this weekend. I cannot recommend this film enough: the characters feel real, the camera work is very stable and creative, the story is compelling and creepy, and the demonology mentioned is very accurate. The premise is simple - girl moves in with guy, guy finds out that his hot girl is being stalked by a ghost, guy buys camera to film the supposed ghost, guy acts like a cocky bastard and eggs the ghost-kinda-thing on, turns out the ghost-kinda-thing is actually a very angry demon and all Hell breaks loose.

Interested in finding out more, I found out about the first horror film done in this style. It's called "The Last Broadcast," a documentary covering the bizarre murders of three TV show hosts in New Jersey's Pine Barrens. This film blows "The Blair Witch Project" out of the water. Check out the Trailer here, and beware - the last 10 minutes of the film are the scariest I have seen in a while:

Uhh, school and life are really taking it out of me. Ikkicon's ninjaHELL schedule has changed a bit. Instead of the two ninjaHELL! Presents panels, we're only going to have one.

Remember Telezonia? Yeah, dial that number and beat yourself with all of the dirty, sticky change that comes out of the pay phone that no one uses anymore because cellphones are way better, because we're bringing it back. And performing the RiffTrax for it live. And hopefully selling it on disc.

The fanfiction pannels are still up in the air, but A Very Merry ninjaHELL! (ninjaHELL! 4) and ninjaHELL! Presents: Telezonia are solid as a rock.

Telezonia Update

Tsuba and I are 25% through scripting our commentary for Telezonia, which we will be selling on RiffTrax.com when we are finished. Also, we're working on a full commentary for both of our "ninjaHELL! Presents" Showings during Ikkicon 4.

What are the full films we are probably going to make fun of?

Phantom Raiders - A film where the bad guy defects to Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and a military ninja and the bad guy's son have to bring three retired military heroes out of drug dealership and into the military's special force unit "The Phantom Raiders". Did I mention the exploding ninja stars?
Solar Adventure - A South Korean animated children's film featuring children fighting off alien invaders with the help of some special friends. ...and by children's film, I mean horrible piece of anti-communist, anti-North Korean propaganda. That's totally what I meant.

Our goal is to finish Telezonia by Thanksgiving, so we can finish the commentary and skit scripts for both of these films. We'll keep you posted!

And yet again, we have our annual showing lined up for Ikkicon again this year. Expect to see either Tsuba or Me with an ice bag on our head, and a bottle of asprin in hand, as we do a special Christmas / New Years / Holidays / Alcohol themed ninjaHELL! 4.

We'll post time and date when we know it. Should be on a Saturday night like the last few years, but we won't know for sure for a couple of months.

But, that is all about to change!

That's right, Tsuba and I are starting our own podcast, which you can check out soon (unless life keeps on stealing our damn recording time)! It's called "Its All In The Cards" and its about card games, bad movies, weird stories, ninjaHELL! goodness, philosophy, psychology, and pretty much anything else that pops in our heads.

Also in the works is our lovely Commentary on Telezonia (no, we haven't forgotten), and preparing for our next convention, the "ever lovely" Ikkicon 4 (We're holding out for a hero, a street-wise Hercules, if you catch my drift ;3)

So stay tuned, cause we're going to be coming at you this next week!

Well, that was hectic! Expect there to be times of no activity here around Ikkicon every year: those few months are my big preparation time so I can have enough material for the next couple of shows. Otherwise, it just gets boring showing the same things all of the time.

Telezonia (No Commentary)

Yay for my favorite phone related educational film ever! The description I left on our YouTube account sums it up pretty well:

"This is one of our more nefarious clips from ninjaHELL! I showed it at the first two "ninjaHELL!"s, and (after hearing people scream in pain) will be giving it a rest for a couple of years. However, I do have other clips that relate to it in various ways. [Expect to hear a reference or two at this year's event.] See how many riffs you can come up with!"

I'll post the version with our riffs over the dialogue whenever we get around to doing it.

What ninjaHELL! is All About

ninjaHELL! is a clip show that features weird animation from around the world, old educational films, propaganda shorts, demented commercials, odd do-it-yourself clips, and video that (quite frankly) the above qualifiers fail to explain. Combine it with dancing, weird guest appearances, free (you heard me right) giveaways, and stuff that we couldn't have even tried to plan for.

Think Mystery Science Theater 3000 without the commercials, being live, and having more than one thing being made fun of.

Then, take your expectations and crush them. You should expect the unexpected.
